This Privacy Policy also extends to any information that you may provide to us offline at a silent retreat, teacher training, workshop, mentoring session, etc.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By visiting and using the Site, you agree that your use of our Site, and any dispute over privacy is governed by this Privacy Policy. Please know that we may need to change our Privacy Policy as privacy issues will likely be an evolving discussion. When we post changes, we will update the effective date noted above to reflect the date of change. If you choose to continue to use the Site after we post such changes, you accept the Privacy Policy as modified.

How We Collect/Use Information

We may collect and store sensitive personal data or other information that you voluntarily supply to us online while using the Site – for example but not limited to the following:

  • Submission of applications/questionnaires: Insight Yoga Institute, Teacher Training, Silent Retreat – to be used to make decisions about admission into these various programs,
  • Feedback through our Contact page that may be posted with your permission on our Testimonials section,
  • Email communication (i.e. questions submitted through our Contact page and subsequent email exchanges)

We do not use any of the above listed for marketing purposes.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.


We also collect and store information that is generated automatically as you navigate online through the Site or Plugins used within the Site. We may also use a standard feature in browser software called “cookies”. This assists us in improving delivery of our web pages and prevent you from having to re-enter your preferences on certain areas of the Site where you have entered preference information before.

Who we share your data with

Only specific information is shared and only with relevant parties associated with us (i.e. our assistants, assigned Insight Yoga Institute (IYI) mentors). An example of this would be assessment of and Insight Yoga Institute application for acceptance into the teacher training program.

Please know that when you voluntarily make your personal information available for viewing by others online (i.e. through social media pages, etc.) this information can be seen and collected/used by others besides us. We cannot be responsible for any unauthorized third-party use of such information.

We do not have any third-party advertising on the Site, but we do include links that provide access to products and services sold by third-parties, whose privacy policies we do not control. When you use these links, the privacy policy of that third-party site will be the governing policy.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Google Analytics 

We also use Google services, including Google Analytics which uses cookies and other, similar technologies to collect information about Site use anonymously and reports website trends, without identifying individual visitors. How do we store your information and data security

Your information is stored at the server that delivers content and emails. Your information can only be accessed by those who help to manage and maintain our website and the email newsletters. It is our intent to protect against any loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you.

No data transmission is 100% secure and while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee or warrant complete security. We use a variety of processes to protect your data and limit the information we provide to outside parties (i.e. IYI mentors) to only what they need to carry out their responsibilities.

Payment information (i.e application fees, mentoring fees and registration for silent retreats and teacher trainings) is handled by third party services and the bank or credit card information is never revealed to or stored by

All of our email newsletters sent to you by Sarah and Ty (and Insight Yoga Institute) include an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can remove yourself at any time by clicking on this link. You may also edit any of the information stored in your user profile by clicking on the update preferences link.

Under California Civil Code § 1798.83, we are required to disclose to consumers the following information upon written request: (1) the categories of personal information that we have disclosed to third parties within the prior year, if that information was subsequently used for marketing purposes; and (2) the names and addresses of all such third parties to whom such the personal information was disclosed.
